Six things you should do before your Domino’s Delivery Expert arrives at your door

Six things you should do before your Domino’s Delivery Expert arrives at your door

At Domino’s, we know time is the enemy of food.

That’s why we’re always looking for innovative ways to deliver your favourite slice, faster.

From fast-bake ovens that can cook your pizza in as little as three and a half minutes, to predictive ordering technology that gives our team a head start, we’re addressing in-store efficiencies to ensure your pizza still has that ‘fresh from the oven’ feel when you receive it.

But our latest initiative, Call on Arrival, addresses a different kind of inefficiency.

You, my pizza-loving friend.

It turns out our teams are delivering your pizza order so promptly, that many local pizza lovers aren’t ready when our team member comes a-knocking.

In a recent poll of more than 3,000 Aussie pizza lovers, almost 40% of respondents admitted to being unprepared to answer the door for their pizza delivery because the Domino’s Delivery Expert arrived sooner than expected.

That’s why we’ve introduced Call on Arrival for our Australian and New Zealand pizza lovers.

By triggering an automated voice call approximately two minutes before your Delivery Expert is expected to arrive at the door, Domino’s Call on Arrival reduces the amount of time it takes you to accept your order, and ensures you receive the promptest, piping hottest, version of your pizza possible.

In the spirit of a swift pizza delivery, we’ve compiled a list of six things you should do before your Domino’s Delivery Expert arrives at your door.

1.       Put some pants on

This one’s for all the pants-less pizza lovers out there.

You might think this sounds obvious, but a recent survey of Aussie Domino’s customers found that 26% of respondents admitted to answering the door to their Domino’s Delivery Expert in just their underwear or a towel.

Now, we’re all for enjoying our favourite slice in comfort, but consider sparing a thought for your unsuspecting Delivery Expert by keeping your pants in place until after your order has arrived.

2.       Turn the porch light on

Because your local Domino’s is your ‘open late best mate’, this means we make many piping hot pizza deliveries at night.

Help your Delivery Expert confidently navigate your front steps by ensuring the front light is switched on prior to arrival.

And if the safety of our team member isn’t enough to motivate you – remember that a well-lit path to your front door also reduces the risk of your pizza taking a fall mere metres from your door.

3.       Prepare your payment

If you’ve already paid online – no worries, you can skip straight to the next task.

However, if you’ll be paying by cash, do yourself and your Delivery Expert a favour by preparing your dollars and cents before your pizza arrives.

Pro tip: Domino’s Delivery Experts only carry $20 in change so if you’re going to require more than this, we encourage you to pay online.

4.       Shotgun your favourite seat on the couch

Is it presumptuous of us to assume you’ll be enjoying your Friday pizza night lounging on the couch rather than sitting down at the dining table?

Whether it’s the brand new reclining chair or the seat with the best view of the TV, take this opportunity to stake your claim – before your pesky little brother or housemate weasels their way in while you’re too busy accepting the pizza delivery.

5.       Agree on a movie

Many of our fellow pizza lovers will agree that a piping hot pizza is best enjoyed in front of your favourite Netflix show.

And if you’re dining with friends or family, choosing a movie that everyone agrees on can take some time.

Don’t let your pizza go cold while you toss up between Emily in Paris and Ratched – decide on your entertainment of choice now, and simply hit ‘play’ when your pizza arrives.

6.       Distract your dog

Big or small, your four-legged family members can delay your pizza delivery.

Not to mention we’d hate for your ‘hound-ini’ to make a daring escape as your Delivery Expert wrangles with the fiddly gate latch with one hand, precious pizza cargo balanced in the other.

Whether it’s securing your canine companion in the backyard, or distracting them with their favourite treat, ensuring a dog-free path for your Delivery Expert is a win-win for all.

Completed the above steps? Then it should be just about time to receive an automated voice call courtesy of Domino’s Call on Arrival, letting you know your favourite slice is approximately two minutes away.

Enjoy your pizza even sooner with Domino’s Call on Arrival.

Just make sure you blow on the slice first before putting it in your mouth.
