BIKES AND BALLADS: DOMINO’S RIDER WELL-VERSED IN DELIVERING JOY

Self-isolating at home has seen many of us become unusually familiar with the day-to-day sounds of our neighbourhood. There’s the bin man on his weekly route, the neighbour’s dog yapping at passers-by, and, in the coastal suburb of Torquay, Hervey Bay there’s the musical Domino’s delivery guy.

“Does anyone know who the singing Domino’s Torquay bike delivery guy is!?”

Posted to a community Facebook page one Friday evening, the comments section quickly revealed that the mystery maestro had more than a few admirers.

“We love him riding passed (sic) our house too.”

“We got tunes with our delivery tonight.”

“We hear him ride past too…always gives us the warm and fuzzies.”

It wasn’t long before the seaside suburb serenader was identified as 23-year-old Domino’s Torquay delivery expert Connor Webb.

Connor’s as close to a live performance as one can get during self-isolation.

Since joining the team in January this year, Connor has been treating both the local neighbourhood and his team members to soulful renditions of his favourite tunes.

“My favourite types of songs to sing while riding are sea shanties and folk songs,” Connor divulged, while a community member also reported hearing Connor casually belt out Bohemian Rhapsody as he peddled down the street.

Sea shanties, folk songs and ballads. Not the average playlist of a young man in his early-20s – we love it.

And in a time of unease for so many people, it seems that Connor’s delivery of joyful jingles is just what the local community needed.

You don’t even have to be a customer to experience the joy of pizza delivery when Connor’s around.

And when he’s not delivering hot meals and rousing melodies to Hervey Bay locals? You can catch Connor enjoying his favourite Domino’s pizza – a BBQ Meatlovers – no doubt foot-tapping along to his favourite playlist.
