FIVE REASONS TO CONTINUE HOSTING YOUR PIZZA PARTIES ONLINE (EVEN AFTER ISOLATION)

FIVE REASONS TO CONTINUE HOSTING YOUR PIZZA PARTIES ONLINE (EVEN AFTER ISOLATION)

Last month we celebrated National Pizza Party Day on Friday 15 May, 2020.

Refusing to let social distancing and self-isolation stand in our way, we hosted Australia’s biggest virtual pizza party, complete with free pizza and an epic round of rapid fire, pizza-inspired trivia!.

It was an evening to remember, not just for the pizza and games, but for the surprising ease and pleasure it was to attend such an event from the comfort of our own homes.

Because if we’re honest, getting comfy and ordering in on a Friday night is our guilty pleasure.

And that got us to thinking… as restrictions are relaxed and we slowly return to attending events in person, does that mean the current era of virtual catch ups and online hangouts is almost over?

We say no!

Regardless of whether you’re still self-isolating or just prefer being social from the comfort of your own couch, we’ve compiled the top five reasons to continue hosting your pizza parties online.

1. Always order your favourite pizza

While we can all agree that pizza is the greatest party food, we don’t all agree on our favourite flavour combinations. From those with dietary requirements or unpopular requests (not everyone wants an extra helping of chilli flakes on their Firebreather, John), to those who will swear to you that pineapple on pizza is a crime (click here to have your mind changed), ordering pizza that will meet everyone’s needs and preferences can have its challenges.

But when the party goes virtual, you can forget about the polite but tense discussion that inevitably comes with ordering a pizza to please a variety of people. Now that everyone is ordering a pizza just for themselves (or to share with their immediate household), you have free range of the menu! Whether you stick with your old faithful order or get adventurous trying something you’ve never had before, the choice is yours and yours alone!

2. Virtual pizza party member chews loudly? Mute them.

We all know someone who chews their food with the same disregard for table manners as a goat tearing up a watermelon. The lip-smacking. The excessive crunching. The open-mouthed slop as the food is swished from one side of the mouth to the other. It’s enough to turn you off your own meal. Save yourself the torture and host a virtual pizza party instead! That way, you can mute any loud chewing culprits and still enjoy your own pie.

3. Convenience

If there’s one thing self-isolation has made us, it’s professional homebodies. Being forced to eat, sleep, work, shop, exercise, socialise and attend appointments virtually from home has seen many of us become rather attached to our new home-centric-lifestyles.

Even after self-isolation has ended, pizza is a meal most of us can quickly and safely get delivered without leaving the couch. Simply fire up the app or head online to get started. The only face-to-face interaction required is a friendly wave to the Domino’s Delivery Expert upon collection of your Zero Contact Delivery.

4. Comfort

Don’t deny it – you’ve grown accustomed to shuffling around the house in your daggiest outfits and eating dinner in bed. Just because restrictions are easing doesn’t mean you have to give up those self-iso lifestyle comforts to catch up with friends!

When you host a virtual pizza party, there’s no need to dress up if you don’t want to. In fact, if you position the camera strategically, you don’t even need to wear pants! Just remember to turn off your camera before you stand up to use the bathroom.

5. The last slice

You know what I’m talking about. No one thinks twice about grabbing another slice of pizza until it’s the last one left in the box. Then suddenly the hands stop reaching and now everyone is sitting around politely, silently eyeing it off. You don’t want to look greedy, but if no one else wants it…

You wait a few minutes, but still it remains unclaimed. That last slice of pizza taunts you, lying there in all it’s delicious, carb-tastic glory. Finally, you give in and snatch that last slice, no longer caring what your fellow party goers will say. All you can think about is that pizza slice. Flavoursome, mouth-watering, and…COLD.

This wouldn’t have happened if you’d been partying virtually.

Avoid racing your friends to the last slice and enjoy it while it’s still hot by taking your next pizza party online.

While it’s great to see restrictions easing, we can’t deny the perks of catching up with friends virtually without having to leave the comfort of home. But just in case your mates need convincing, share these five, indisputable, perfectly sound reasons ASAP to ensure you never have to leave your couch (or favourite trackies) ever again.
