Making, baking and creating: How a simple pizza box became a 'pizza' art

Making, baking and creating: How a simple pizza box became a 'pizza' art

“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” – Edgar Degas

Are you a Toowong local? Have you been enjoying slices of piping hot Domino’s pizza in isolation?

If you answered yes, then chances are you have been lucky enough to receive a colourful pizza box with your most recent Zero Contact Delivery.

You can thank the wave of artistic genius that’s struck Domino’s team members across Australia, and it all started with one talented pizza lover from the team at Domino’s Toowong.

Assistant Manager Brandy isn’t just passionate about making and baking pizzas. She also loves spreading joy through her art, and now Brandy has found a way to combine the two.

We love this one.

We love this one.

To assist with your Zero Contact Delivery, our teams are currently equipped with plain pizza boxes to use as a safe surface upon which to place your pizza order if no other suitable surface is available.

But where most of us just saw a cardboard box, Brandy saw a blank canvas, transforming her team’s Zero Contact safe surfaces into cheerful works of art.

Featuring infamous scenes from the highly popular Netflix series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness, and memorable moments from much-loved sitcoms such as Friends and The Office, Brandy’s nostalgic pizza box artwork is bringing smiles to customers’ faces.

“I wanted to provide customers with a moment of joy and happiness in a time that is anything but – brightening their day and making them laugh,” Brandy revealed.

“I consider myself a very creative person and have always had a passion for art, so the idea to merge my love of ‘pizza and paint’ just made sense!”

Domino’s Toowong franchisees Cameron Smith and Lloyd Mitchell said Brandy’s ‘outside-the-box’ thinking had received an overwhelming response from local pizza lovers.

“We have been flooded with messages from customers showing their appreciation for Brandy’s artwork. One customer even told us he gasped with excitement when he saw it!”

Brandy’s bringing joy to Toowong locals one amazing artwork at a time.

Since sharing her artwork with her Domino’s family, Brandy has inspired other artistically inclined team members to get creative with their Zero Contact boxes, delivering more than just pizza to self-isolating locals.

In a time where people are developing a deep appreciation for the little things, these simple squares of art are helping some customers find joy in unexpected places – under their pizza.
