Making the world a better place one pizza at a time
At Domino’s, we are passionate about doing the right thing because it’s the right thing to do. It’s one of our core values, and the reason we launched our community-based program “Feed the Knead” in late 2020.
This program, which is run by local Domino’s stores, provides support in the form of free pizza to those who are doing it tough.
Since September 2020, we are proud to have donated more than 8,000 pizzas to those in ‘knead’ across Australia.
Behind every generous pizza donation is a dedicated Domino’s franchisee – doing everything they can to make a difference.
Meet some of the franchisees helping to Feed the Knead in their local communities:
James Dooley – the ‘Mr Pizza’ of Central Queensland
Multi-unit franchisee, James Dooley and Central Queensland Regional Leader, Malaka Kevitiyagala embraced the Feed the Knead program from the moment it was introduced, donating more than 700 pizzas in the past 12 months to those in ‘knead’.
“We’re proud to have made a range of Feed the Knead donations to several causes, including the Gladstone Soup Kitchen, the Rockhampton men’s homeless shelter, and the local women’s domestic violence shelter, along with providing a pizza lunch to new foster carers during a training day,” said Mr Kevitiyagala.
“More recently, we donated 100 pizzas to everyone who attended the Gladstone Indigenous Work Expo, which was a great way to show our appreciation to local businesses in attendance, and our support of the Indigenous community.
“It’s important to us to be a part of the community, and by helping to Feed the Knead, we’re bringing Domino’s value of ‘Doing the right thing because it’s the right thing to do’ to life,” he said.
Jason and Lindsay Todd – Victorian franchisees and lockdown legends
Multi-unit franchisees Jason and Lindsay Tod own several stores in Victoria and are both proud supporters of their local community and the Feed the Knead program, particularly after seeing the difference it made during Victoria’s extended lockdowns.
“We seek out opportunities to give back to the local areas in which we operate. Communities are made up of lots of individuals, each with their own story and challenges, so to be able to lend a helping hand is incredibly rewarding,” said Ms Tod.
As part of Feed the Knead, Jason and Lindsay gave away 1,000 free pizzas to ‘Lockdown Legends’ during Victoria’s lengthy lockdown in 2020.
“At Domino’s, we’re about so much more than just pizza. We’re about connection and bringing a smile to people’s faces, and the ‘Lockdown Legends’ giveaway was our way of letting locals know they weren’t alone during a time that was incredibly isolating.
“During the multiple lockdowns, local businesses and the mental health of our community were heavily impacted. To be a bright light for others during such a challenging time is a privilege we will never take for granted,” shared Ms Tod.
William Cody and Shannon Langlands – Regional NSW Franchisees working hard to make a difference
Multi-unit franchisees William Cody and Shannon Langlands own and operate a number of Domino’s stores in regional New South Wales including Domino’s Forbes and are big believers in Feeding the Knead in their local communities.
“The most memorable Feed the Knead donation we made was taking a hot pizza lunch to the local chemist. They were so thankful, and when I said, “You deserve it for all the good you do keeping the community healthy”, I was met with tears from a few of their staff. A small bit of appreciation can go a long way,” shared Mr Cody.
“Having a good community relationship can make your business and the Feed the Knead program has allowed us to develop strong bonds with the community and to provide a helping hand when it’s needed most. Being able to give back puts a smile on my face and makes me so proud to work for Domino’s,” he said.
