When pizza sauce runs in the family
The year was 2000. Wayne was just looking for a second job to help pay for his upcoming wedding. But almost two decades on, not only has Wayne been unable to shake his passion for pizza, he’s passed it on to his eldest son, Caiden.
A NSW Central Coast local, Wayne Mann started working at Domino’s Mingara when he was 25 years old as a part time delivery driver.
Before long he was unable to resist a ‘slice’ of the pizza life, and seven years later Wayne bought Domino’s Mingara, taking his first steps as a business owner.
A natural leader, Wayne took to his new role like dough to an un-floured bench. But Wayne still had more to offer.
‘Mann’-ing the saucing station on opening day at Domino’s Cameron Park.
After eight years as a franchisee, Wayne decided to sell his store to the current franchisee Erin Bryant and take a new pizza path as a Business Consultant for Domino’s.
As fate would have it, these days Wayne now reports to the same man who hired him as a part-time delivery driver all those years ago.
Wayne, in his element.
“It’s incredible to look back and think of the different roles I’ve had at Domino’s over the past 20 years, and how I’m now in a completely different position but am once again working for the first boss I ever had at Domino’s, at the same time as consulting with Erin at the Mingara store,” says Wayne.
But the coincidences don’t end there.
Clearly inspired by his father and keen to get a ‘pizza’ the action, Wayne’s fourteen-year-old son Caiden recently applied for a job at their local Domino’s Mingara – the same Domino’s Mingara his father had once owned and operated.
Like father like son. Pizza sauce runs in their veins.
“I was so proud when Caiden shared his desire to work for Domino’s, but it was important that he earned his spot in the store and went through the same process as all hopeful job seekers,” Wayne said.
“I’m incredibly grateful that Erin was open to taking Caiden through the recruitment process – it is such a great reminder that Domino’s is one big family.”
And one big family it is, with Wayne and Caiden recently spending the day working alongside one another at the Mingara store.
“I always love being back in the Mingara store, and despite being in “work mode”, it was great to share the experience with my son. I always hoped pizza sauce might run through his veins too!”
Wayne’s world.
And Wayne’s advice to other passionate pizza lovers wondering whether to take that next step?
“At Domino’s, there are endless opportunities for people who want to build a career or want to own their own store. This business truly nurtures and develops that ambition, and I’m proud to be able to share that with my own family now.
“I’m so passionate about Domino’s and Caiden is loving his new job so much so that even our 13-year-old twins can’t wait to join Domino’s when they’re old enough!”
