Safety first! Seven steps Domino’s is taking to ensure your safety every day

While 2020 has undoubtedly thrown some curve balls, there’s still one constant in our life that never fails to bring us joy.

Pizza.

Our team members know it has been an absolute privilege to continue safely operating throughout the pandemic – from feeding customers self-isolating at home, to feeding those on the frontline working to keep us safe and our society moving.

With so much uncertainty in the world right now, we want to ensure you can ALWAYS count on Domino’s to keep you safely fed.

Your friendly neighbourhood pizza people.

That’s why you should know we take your health, safety, and trust extremely seriously.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been reviewing, updating and prioritising our health and safety procedures to ensure we are always operating in line with current government and health authority advice.

Here’s a quick summary of just some of the precautions your local Domino’s store is taking to keep you safe.

1.       Zero Contact Pick-Up and Delivery

On March 12, 2020 (feels like a lifetime ago, doesn’t it?) Domino’s introduced Zero Contact Pick-Up and Delivery for ALL customers in Australia and New Zealand.

The free service, which was launched to limit unnecessary physical contact, provides peace of mind for pizza lovers craving a safe, hot meal.

Depending on current lockdown restrictions and health advice in your area, Zero Contact Delivery will either be standard practice on all deliveries or an optional service – either way Zero Contact Delivery is always available for customers in Australia.

2.       Regular sanitisation

Did you know all of our stores are sanitised from top to bottom hourly?

Additionally, all team members follow strict hand washing and sanitisation procedures (including our drivers, who carry hand sanitiser with them on every delivery), wear gloves when topping your favourite pizza, and gloves when handling cash in-store.

Hand sanitiser is also available for customer use in all stores.

3.       Face masks

Recently, we have mandated the wearing of face masks throughout all stores in Victoria as mandated by government, as well as in hotspot locations where the government has strongly recommended the wearing of masks. We have seen this take effect in some locations throughout New South Wales.

If you see a Domino’s team member wearing a mask, this does not mean they are feeling unwell. Wearing a face mask provides the wearer with an additional layer of protection when in public, while also offering increased peace of mind to those they interact with.

For the safety of our team members and your fellow pizza lovers, customers entering any Domino’s store in Victoria are also expected to wear a face mask. If you prefer not to wear a face mask, we recommend ordering Zero Contact Delivery!

We will continue to update our policy on wearing masks in line with the virus progression and advice from government and health authorities.

4.       Social distancing in stores

Popping by to pick-up your pizza? Not a worry! But for the safety of both our team members and customers, we’ve implemented a few simple steps (even those of us with two left feet can follow these, we promise) to ensure social distancing measures are followed while you’re visiting.

Step up

The size of your local store’s foyer will determine how many people can socially distance inside at once. No need to carry a tape measure though, we’ve done the maths for you. As well as signs on the store’s front windows indicating their maximum capacity, you’ll also find stickers on the floor inside, 1.5m apart. While inside the store, customers can easily maintain social distancing by standing on a sticker.

You’ll find floor stickers just like these in Domino’s stores across the country.

Step back

While all Domino’s stores now have Perspex screens installed along the front counter, it’s important that you still maintain 1.5m between you and the team member taking your order. Avoid leaning on the counter and talking through the payment gap at the bottom of the screen – simply speak up and tell us your order with pride!

Exit stage left

If the foyer has reached maximum capacity, or you’re waiting for your order to cook, we ask that you please wait outside. Where possible, our teams have repositioned their customer order screen so you can see when your order is nearly ready for collection from outside the store window.

5.       We would prefer you don’t use cash

Where possible, we encourage you to pay for your order via a contactless method (e.g., EFTPOS or online).

However, we understand this is not always an option for everyone, so when paying with cash our team members will use gloves to ensure the experience is truly contactless.

6.       Tamper seal

Once leaving our 265 degree Celsius ovens, the only hands that touch your pizza are yours.

For ultimate peace of mind, you’ll find a tamper proof seal on your delivered pizza box.

We give this the ‘seal’ of approval.

7.       If you’re sick, stay home.

Just as we expect our team members to stay home if they are ill, if you are feeling unwell, please stay home.

After all, there’s always Zero Contact Delivery.
