Just Ask Alexa; “Please Place My Favourite Domino’s Order!”
Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Limited (Domino’s) has added yet another way for customers to place their order and this time it’s as simple as asking Alexa to place their favourite order via voice ordering using an Alexa device like Amazon Echo.
Amazon Echo is a family of hands free devices with built in speakers, controlled by your voice.
Alexa is the cloud-based voice service behind Amazon Echo and other Alexa-enabled devices.
Whether it’s a request to play music, hear the daily news, check the weather or in this case asking Alexa a simple question – just ask, and Alexa will respond instantly.
Domino’s Group Chief Technology and Digital Officer Michael Gillespie said the hands-free, voice-first interaction was set to bring new meaning to fast and easy online ordering at Domino’s.
“We have always placed pride in being able to make our customer’s lives easier and fit in with their busy schedules, and we are constantly reviewing ways in which our online ordering process can be faster, easier and more convenient.
“Amazon Alexa provides the magic of hands-free voice control to let customers to do more in life while being helpful, useful and entertaining, and now ordering Domino’s is one of those things.
“Whether our customers are with friends, in the middle of a movie or at home with their family, they can simply just ask Alexa and Alexa will respond immediately to place that order with Domino’s,” Mr Gillespie said.
“Customers can also check the status of their Domino’s order by simply asking Alexa how their order is progressing – adding an entirely new meaning to convenience.”
How it works
Domino’s added Quick Ordering for customer’s a few years back, allowing customers to save their last order or their favourite order to allow for even faster ordering. Once customers have this order saved at the top of their Quick Order list, it allows customers to order online in as little as two taps.
Mr Gillespie said the pizza company had now taken it one step further with customers having the ability to place a Quick Order by voice ordering with Alexa.
“We are committed to being at the forefront of technology and innovation. The way technology is evolving and the pace in which it is moving means we are always working to keep across the ways in which our customers may want to order from us.”
Mr Gillespie encourages customers to set up a Domino’s account if they haven’t already done so, place their order and save their preferred payment so they can select and save their Quick Order to place via Alexa next time.
“We look forward to welcoming Alexa to the team as another personalised, quick and easy way customers can order from us,” he said.
