“Hey Google, ask Domino’s for my last saved order”
Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Limited (Domino’s) has partnered with Google to add yet another way for customers to place and track orders via the Google Assistant.
The company last year launched ordering via Amazon Alexa to offer a similar service; making it the only quick service restaurant in Australia to use voice technology for online ordering.
The Google Assistant is a voice-activated virtual helper which is available on over one billion devices, such as the Google Home smart speaker and compatible smartphones.
Now, in addition to asking your Google Assistant to check the news, play your favourite song and tell you the weather forecast, you can also ask it to order your favourite Domino’s pizza!
Domino’s Group Chief Digital and Technology Officer Michael Gillespie said the company was always looking for ways in which to improve the online ordering experience.
“Our online orders regularly exceed 70 per cent of network sales, with more than two million pizzas and sides ordered online every week – so it’s important that we continue to innovate in this space,” Mr Gillespie said.
“We pride ourselves on introducing new technology that will not only make our customers’ lives easier, but make the entire experience more enjoyable.
“Now if our customers are entertaining guests or watching a movie at home, they can simply ask their Google Assistant to place their saved order with Domino’s and sit back and relax until the order arrives. Or if they are wondering where their order is, they can simply ask their Google Assistant for a status update!”
Mr Gillespie said the company was committed to leading the internet of food through investing in new and emerging technology.
“We are always working to better understand our customers and how they want to order from us. This seemed like a fantastic opportunity to provide yet another ordering platform.”
How it works
Domino’s allows customers to save their last order, or their favourite order, to make the ordering process even faster. Customers can now place a ‘saved order’ via voice activation through their Google Assistant.
“Simply set up a Domino’s account if you don’t already have one, place an order and specify your preferred payment so that you can save your order and place it via your Google Assistant the next time,” Mr Gillespie said.
“We’re excited to offer yet another quick, easy and convenient way for our customers to order from us!”
