HOT OFF THE PRESS: Queensland predicted to win 2023 Origin series

Mouths across the nation are watering in anticipation of this year’s Origin series, and at Domino’s we believe these mouths can also predict who will take home the win.

Domino’s “rigorous” predictive process involves extrapolating valuable pizza data such as the most popular pizzas and sides, fastest delivery times, and highest number of orders from across New South Wales and Queensland during last year’s games to determine who will ‘bake history’ this time around.

Like the perfect cheese pull, it was hard to separate the two states early on with BBQ Meatlovers and Garlic Bread dominating across the series in both states.

However, Queenslanders started to prove they were the original pizza lovers by outperforming New South Wales in highest number of orders in each of the three games, with more than 150,000 orders across the series.

Domino’s Delivery Experts were crowned the MVP’s across all three games, travelling a safe 633,000 kilometres across both states – the equivalent of driving from Eden (NSW) to Cape York (Qld) 163 times!

But again, it was the Queenslanders who delivered success by driving around 322,000km across the series. The equivalent of almost 1.7 million laps of the footy field!

Domino’s Chermside in Queensland also featured twice in the three-game series for the fastest and safest deliveries.

Domino’s ANZ CEO Josh Kilimnik said regardless of who wins, Domino’s stores are ready to fuel the fun.

“Origin nights are among the busiest nights of the year for our teams,” he said.

“But this doesn’t mean we’ll be dropping the ball when it comes to quality.

“Our team members are focused on the extra effort areas: being slow where it matters in making every pizza right, and fast where it counts in hustling them out the door, while keeping safety at the forefront, both in store and while out on the roads.”

Ultimately, the winner of this year’s pizza lover's series will be decided by your clicks through the Domino’s app. Customers are encouraged to pre-order to ensure their pizzas arrive before kick-off, and they don’t miss a moment of the action.

Judging by last year’s dom-inance, Queenslanders will be hungry for success again.

Whoever takes out the win, one thing is for sure – thousands will be getting a slice of the Domino’s action!
