Domino’s team members to stay on Fast Food Industry Award

Domino’s Pizza Enterprises Ltd (Domino’s) Australian employees will receive wages that are among the highest in the industry, including penalty rates, with the Company announcing the decision to remain on the Fast Food Industry Award (Modern Award), rather than continue to pursue approval of a new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA).

Domino’s Australia/New Zealand CEO Nick Knight said that, since January, the Modern Award has provided certainty and stability to team members and franchisees. The Company today confirmed labour costs were lower than previous guidance provided to the market. This also includes paying employees weekend and public holiday penalty rates.

“We were prepared to pursue a new EBA because it provided additional benefits for employees, which was supported by our team members in a ballot earlier this year,” Mr Knight said.

“We are still strongly committed to achieving more benefits and security for our employees but believe this can be achieved more efficiently through input into the current four-yearly review of the Modern Award being conducted by the Fair Work Commission (FWC).”

The Australian Industry Group (AIG) is making submissions on behalf of a number of other large companies within the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industry as part of that process. AIG will also now be representing Domino’s in respect of the Award review process.

“Being the first large company in our industry to be on the Modern Award ensures Domino’s is a rewarding place to work – whether people are looking for their first job, or are hoping to build a career, Domino’s can help pave the way.

“Today’s announcement gives certainty to team members, who will continue to receive wages among the highest in our industry, and to franchisees who, because of our steps over the past two years, have been able to implement these wages and continue to grow.

“We can now continue to focus on providing great products, service and value to our customers and continue investing in our people,” Mr Knight said.
