Local Domino’s Wodonga franchisees dedicated to helping those in ‘knead’

Local Domino’s Wodonga franchisees TJ Gurm and Rasheed Sheikh-Omar are dedicated to helping those in ‘knead’ – providing safe, hot meals to locals in Wodonga who are doing it tough due to COVID-19.

As part of Domino’s new community based program ‘Feed the Knead’, which aims to provide localised support in the form of free pizza, Mr Gurm and Mr Sheikh-Omar are proud to have donated more than 210 piping hot pizzas to those in need in the past week.

Mr Sheikh-Omar said Domino’s Wodonga is committed to giving back to the local community and encourages anyone who has fallen on tough times to contact the store.

“As a new business owner, I understand it is a privilege to be able to operate and safely feed those in the community during this time.

“That is why we are doing everything possible to live up to that privilege and to return the support that our community has so generously shown us,” Mr Sheikh-Omar said.

“So, whether you have lost your job due to COVID-19, are struggling with mental health in isolation, or simply to put food on the table, we want to do what we can to help.

“We know that pizza can’t solve all of the world’s problems, but it can bring a small slice of joy to a bad day, and in these times of extreme stress and uncertainty that’s never been more important.”

Mr Sheikh-Omar joined Domino’s in 2016 as a Delivery Expert at Domino’s Altona, climbing the ranks before taking the leap to partner with Mr Gurm and become a first-time franchisee.

Since taking over ownership of Domino’s Wodonga with Mr Gurm in late September, the pair remain dedicated to supporting those within the local community.

With more than 14 years of pizza experience, Mr Gurm said he is passionate about being present with his new team and providing as much support as he can to locals in Wodonga.

“In this time of extreme uncertainty, where some people may not know when or where their next paycheck is coming from, the offer of a hot meal is the least we can do to help.

“There is no doubt the pandemic has had a devastating impact on many people lives, and we want the local community to know we are in this together,” Mr Gurm said.

“We encourage any local Wodonga residents, businesses, organisations, clubs and groups in need of a safe, hot meal to reach out.”

Domino’s Wodonga is located at Shop G18/3 Birallee Pl, West Wodonga, VIC, 3690.
