Age no obstacle: Meet the 20-year-old Domino’s franchisee ‘baking’ history

Domino’s youngest franchisee Richard Morf began his career with Domino’s at the age of 15, and just five years later, is owning and operating the Ashburton store.

The now 20-year-old, based in Melbourne, started working for Domino’s as a pizza maker. Today, he employs more than 15 locals and is continuing to expand and grow.

Richard said he always had aspirations to own a business, but admits his franchisee career started a little earlier than even he expected.

“I always dreamed of owning my own business, but at this age most of my friends are still only half-way through their university degrees.

“I knew that if I wanted to be different, I was going to need to challenge myself, take strategic risks and follow my dreams. I had been saving up so that I could take on an opportunity if it was presented, but I definitely didn’t expect it to happen so soon,” he said.

“There have certainly been nerves going into this venture, but I’m a huge believer that if you let fear control you, you won’t achieve much.”

A passionate Domino’s devotee, Richard is excited to represent the brand as a franchisee and to join a collaborative network built on knowledge sharing and support.

“Since I started with the company five years ago, I’ve continued to be inspired by both Group CEO Don Meij and the Domino’s brand – I feel so proud to be a part of it.

“The Domino’s culture is so unique and supportive, as a young business owner I’m so grateful for the support and mentoring I’ve received from other seasoned franchisees,” he said.

For Richard, the future is exciting with his focus firmly on the Ashburton store and helping other young locals to dream big.

“My goal is to grow into a multi-unit franchisee with a network of stores, but for now I’m really concentrating on making Ashburton a success and building my local team.

“I’m keen to build a team of young staff, having grown through the ranks of Domino’s myself, and to mentor others who are hungry to learn business and leadership skills.

“I’m proof that age is not a barrier if you’re prepared to work hard and I’m excited to inspire other young locals to follow in my footsteps.”

Domino’s Ashburton is located at 287A High St, Ashburton Victoria 3147.
