Domino’s prepares to ‘kick-off’ State of Origin

More than 700 Domino’s stores across Australia are getting ready for one of the busiest nights of the year, preparing to make, bake and take more than 350,000 piping hot pizzas to hungry footy fans – which is more than double the number of pizzas delivered on an average Wednesday night.

For those who like to keep track of the score, that works out to be almost 500 pizzas hustled out the door every single minute.

Domino’s ANZ CEO Nick Knight said stores will be bringing their ‘A’ game on Wednesday night, with the focus being slow where it matters in making every pizza right, and fast where it counts in hustling them out the door, while keeping safety at the forefront, both in store and while out on the roads making deliveries.

“In addition to phones ringing off the hook, a rotating oven full of piping hot pizzas and expertly managing perfectly timed deliveries, stores must also handle the rush of being almost two times busier than normal.

“Despite these challenges, our teams continue to rise to the occasion every year, carefully preparing pizzas for customers in record time – demonstrating that it is possible to deliver freshly made pizzas without compromising food quality, value or safety,” said Mr Knight.

With Maroons and Blues fans coming together across Australia to see who tackles the competition best, a love of the game and pizza can help bridge the State versus State divide.

“At Domino’s, we believe pizza is the perfect sharing meal, because there’s something for everyone!”

Domino’s team members will be getting into the spirit by decking out stores in their favourite team’s colours, all while doing one of the most important jobs there is off the field: making thousands of delicious pizzas to feed hungry Aussies.

“Many of our customers love to share a slice of their favourite pizza with family and friends ahead of kick-off, and Domino’s loves to be part of one of the most exciting events on the sporting calendar,” said Mr Knight.

Ahead of the State of Origin series opener this Wednesday 9 June, customers are encouraged to pre-order online to ensure their pizzas arrive before kick-off, and they don’t miss a moment of the action.

Whoever takes out the win, one thing is for sure – many will be getting a slice of the Domino’s action!
